Archaeological Museum and Portrait Gallery

Established as a museum in 1964, it was originally a wing of the Franciscan monastery adjacent to the Church of St Francis of Assisi. It’s currently in the hands of the Archaeological Society of India. It exhibits Portuguese pre-colonial and post-colonial artifacts and has eight galleries including a portrait gallery of Portuguese governors.

Goa State Museum

Located in the capital city of Panjim its numerous galleries feature Hindu and Jain artifacts, sculptures and Christian art. Their most popular exhibit is ‘Goa’s Freedom Struggle Gallery’.
